All Animals, All Day

My 6 weeks in Korea is almost up and I have so many pictures (and memories) that are begging to see the light of day. At first, it seemed like such a daunting task to start a blog... What will I call it? What pictures will I post? Will I be able to articulate exactly what I wanted to say? Will people even want to read it?

And then, something magical happened. I told myself to calm the fuck down because it wasn't that serious! =D

*What will I call it?* I entertained the idea of calling it something super creative like "Angela's
Blog". Instead, I settled on "So what do you eat?" because since I've gone vegan, this is one of
the questions I get asked many, many times. And I plan to be super Asian girl and post tons of
          foodie peek shores.

*What pictures will I post?* Whichever ones I want to (except maybe the nudies... those
           probably aren't appropriate).

*Will I be able to articulate exactly what I wanted to say?* Probably not.

*Will people even want to read it?* Fk yeah! ...All 3 of them.

(Insert witty transition line here)

I was walking the streets of Itaewon one weekend and my little heart burst with unicorn bubbles when I saw an adoption event going on! A tent was set up and each volunteer had a cutie patootie on a leash.

At this point, I had only been gone from home for a week, but I was missing my dog like CRAY.  Thanks to these fur balls, I was able to get some furapy :). Such cuteness overload.

I fell IN LOVE with this puppy. He was such a floppy ball of awesomeness. His paws were too big for his body, his ears made him look like a dwarf rabbit, and he was pretty much perfect. I hope he finds a loving home along with the rest of the dogs that were there.

I was walking back to the hotel when I saw these 3 kittens. It was so funny because it started with one kitten. And then the second one popped his head out. And then the third one decided she wanted to take a gander at the weird Asian girl who was taking pictures of them. I ended up going to the Shoppette and getting some tuna to give them. It sort of breaks my heart that there are so many stray animals out there. Neuter and spay, people....neuter and spay!!!

I saw this guy on a morning jog in Daegu! He was so friendly and wanted infinite belly rubs. Needless to say--I was powerless to his furry flaps aka mouf wings.

Perfect downward dog pose "spotted" on the streets of Itaewon :)

For most of my life, I thought circuses and other animal-sourced "entertainment" venues like zoos, marine parks, horse racing, etc. were cool ways to get up close and personal with wild animals. This really couldn't be further from the truth. It's not natural for an 8 ton elephant to do a handstand. Putting an intelligent whale (meant to swim 100 miles a day) into a swimming pool is not "saving" it. A WILD animal is meant to be in the WILD.

I'll end this post with some great news that happened while I was here. About 20 years ago, Tyke the elephant was shot and killed at a circus performing in Hawaii. After nearly two decades later, a new circus was in town.. and they were planning on bringing animals. The decision not to feature any animal acts was caused by lots of pushback from people who know what a horrid existence these animals go through. (See more: http://www.ringlingbeatsanimals.com/AlecBaldwinPSA.asp). This is a HUGE win, but you still won't see me at the circus because those chach bags are still using animals in their other shows.

It's almost 2 in the morning. Gah. g'night!
